
Matthew is an accomplished teacher, composer and organist with degrees from York University, Oxford University and the University of Toronto. Matthew has written original scores for a number of plays and a short film and enjoys dabbling with various interesting instruments like the kortholt and hurdy-gurdy.
Matthew grew up in Brampton, Ontario, and sang under the direction of Toronto organist and choir director Bruce Kirkpatrick Hill. Matthew’s undergraduate studies include composition with composers Dr. Roman Toi and Dr. David Mott, and organ and church music direction with composer Stephanie Martin at York University and St Mary Magdalene Church (Toronto). He earned his Master’s degree at Oxford University under the direction of music scholar Edward Higginbottom.
Matthew is currently the choir director and organist at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church – Owen Sound (the host church for Choir Camp Owen Sound), and an elementary school educator with a focus on music.
