
Elaine Choi (D.M.A.) immerses herself in Canada’s vibrant choral community as a conductor, educator, adjudicator, chorister, and collaborative pianist. She currently serves as Director of Music at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Artistic Director of Pax Christi Chorale, and Founder & Artistic Director of Babεl.
Elaine is an active adjudicator and clinician, with engagements at national and international choral festivals. As an advocate for Asian choral works, she has led Babεl, an SATB chamber ensemble dedicated to bridging cultures through choral music, at the PODIUM National Choral Conference (2024) and Luminato Festival (2025). A passionate educator, Elaine believes in fostering musical growth across all ages. She frequently works as a guest with various school choirs as well as adult community singers. She serves as co-conductor of the mass choir at the Owen Sound Choir Camp, where she collaborates annually with over 100 singers. Elaine’s professional highlights include the 2022 Bangkok International Choral Festival, the 2024 Ontario Youth Choir, and upcoming appearances with AMIS in Düsseldorf, Germany, and Singsation with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir in 2026.
Elaine earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting under the tutledge of Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt, and holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in choral conducting and music education (piano) from the University of Toronto. She is the 2023 recipient of the Ontario Arts Council’s Leslie Bell Prize in Choral Conducting.
